Try this DIY catapult using popsicle sticks a rubber band and some pom poms. This STEM project is a fun way to teach your kiddos about engineering and physics while they build and test their catapult.

Materials


– Popsicle sticks
– Rubber bands
– Pompoms
– Utility knife / Scissors

Start by taking two popsicle and cutting two small grooves on each side as shown in the image below. Then attach them together around the grooves using a rubber band.

Pile 6-8 popsicle sticks together and wrap a rubber band on each side to hold them in place.

Take one of the two popsicles that you have attached with a rubber band insert it at the bottom of the pile of popsicles as shown below.

Grab some pompoms and get ready launch. Try using different small objects and adding or reducing the pile of popsicles. See what happens!
